Here's to High Heels

We get it. You can’t give up those high heels. But, admit it… your feet certainly ache after a whole day in spikes. It’s easy to see how stilettos put an unnatural strain on feet, ankles, and calf muscles. Don’t toss away your killer shoes. Take advantage of these tips for wearing them well:

  • In bare feet, stand on a bottom stair step so that the balls of your feet are on the stair and your heels are off the stair. Slowly, raise up on your toes, count to three, and lower your feet so your heels are just below the stair. Repeat four times and do four reps. Hold the handrail just in case.
  • Sit on a chair and place both feet flat on the floor. Raise the toes of one foot while keeping your heel on the floor. Alternate with the other foot and get a rhythm going. Keep it up for 30 seconds and repeat throughout the day.
  • Strengthen the muscles in your shins, feet, and ankles by flexing your feet and walking on the balls of your heels. Walk forward a few paces and rest. Repeat twice.
